More Art on Clothes
Fashion has always drawn from a variety of movements and inspirations, and The Odder Side, as a brand, continually seeks what is new, fresh, and bold. We find inspiration in art—contemporary, vibrant,
and full of unexpected accents. Both founders of the brand inspire us (Justyna even studied art history!) to visit galleries and museums worldwide, searching for unique perspectives that we then bring into our work. That’s why, this season, you’ll find the works of Lee Cameron on The Odder Side’s long-sleeve tops. Cameron, an artist who masterfully combines melancholy and humor with a distinctively British touch, embodies the blend of subtle sophistication and urban ease that inspired us to create a guide on how to wear dresses in a way that feels both sexy and relaxed—like a piece of art that speaks for itself.
Inspired by Contemporary Art
When visiting galleries and exhibitions, we always wonder what makes one piece of art catch the eye while another remains in the background. We ask ourselves the same question when designing our clothes: how do we create something that draws attention while providing comfort? In the works of artists like Lee Cameron, we find answers. Cameron plays with simplicity of form and intensity of color, making his pieces both striking and lighthearted. Similarly, a dress should stand out without being loud—it should highlight femininity without being overwhelming.
Playing with Form and Cut
In fashion, just like in art, the interplay of form and cut is the most intriguing. At The Odder Side, we love simple,
minimalist cuts that act as a canvas for personal interpretation. Our dresses often feature open backs or subtly exposed shoulders—delicate details that make every outfit unique. It’s this delicate balance that allows you to feel sexy while staying fully comfortable. After all, just like in art, the key is the balance between what is revealed and what remains hidden.
A great example is the simplicity of our Arrow or Mulberry dresses, which, despite their relaxed fit, subtly emphasize feminine shapes. These are the kinds of dresses that leave room for interpretation, making you feel both cool and free.
Color as an Element of Art and Styling
Colors in contemporary art have the power to tell entire stories—seemingly minimalist at first glance, yet surprising in their depth. At The Odder Side, we love earthy neutral tones that serve as a backdrop for personal expression. Warm beiges, grays, and browns set the mood for autumn while offering total versatility. However, that doesn’t mean we shy away from bolder colors. This season, pieces like the Shawn sweater, the Rawr
dress, or the Sisu shirt add a vibrant touch to the collection.
The Dress as a Work of Art
In both fashion and art, the emotions evoked by a given form are the most important. For us, a dress is more than just a piece of fabric—it’s a personal space where you can feel like yourself.
What to wear over a dress? That’s just the beginning—accessories and layers can completely transform the character of an outfit. Want to add a touch of ease? Try our oversized Holy or All In shirts—casually draped over your shoulders, they’ll give your look an effortless vibe, perfect for a meeting or a stroll through the city. As temperatures drop, we recommend our wool turtlenecks like Reign—tie them nonchalantly at the waist or throw them over a dress to add a cozy, autumnal touch. For a bold yet feminine urban style, reach for the Teo jacket or the Riot trench—they pair beautifully with dresses to create a daring but still feminine look.
For us, fashion is more than just clothing—it’s a way to express yourself. With every collection, we select cuts, colors, and details that tell a story. A dress can be like a canvas on which you paint your mood and energy each day—sometimes with simple lines, other times with bold accents. By drawing inspiration from art, we discover how deeply every choice influences our confidence and well-being. The Odder Side is a space where fashion meets art, giving women the freedom to create their own interpretation of style, full of authenticity and liberation.
